Fresno State sits in sixth place after two rounds at Nick Watney Invitational

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State finds itself in sixth place after 36 holes of golf at the Nick Watney Invitational as the team began play in its second tournament of the season. The Bulldogs were tied for third after the first round, but fell off a bit in the second to finish with a two-round score of 584, 16-over-par.
Justin Avery has led the way for the 'Dogs thus far as he is tied for 11th place. The senior fired a 1-under-par 70 in the opening round and a 3-over-par 74 in the second round.
Alex Lee is tied for 15th place after two rounds. Lee also put in a strong opening round, shooting a solid even-par 71. The junior also shot a 3-over-par 74 in the second round to finish one shot behind teammate Justin Avery headed into the final day.
Michael Cliff rounds out the same top 3 Fresno State fielded in the Inverness Intercollegiate two weeks ago as the freshman shot 73 in round one and 75 in round two.
Cody Riecks is only one shot behind Michael Cliff after firing a 76 in the opening round and a 73 in round two, which was the best second-round score among the 'Dogs.
The final round will take place on Tuesday morning at Sunnyside Country Club as players will tee off on holes No. 1 and No. 10 every 10 minutes starting at 8 a.m.
