Bulldog Golf Places Second at Lexus Classic

Bulldogs Take Second at 37th Fresno Lexus
The Bulldogs hosted the 37th annual Fresno Lexus Bulldog Classic at the Belmont Country Club in Fresno Oct 15-16. Despite shooting at 27-under-par 1053, Fresno State finished second behind Brigham Young University.
"If you would have told me that we would be 27-under-par by the end of the tournament, I would have guessed that we would have won by 10 strokes," Watney said.
That did not turn out to be the case. BYU placed first by shooting a 46-under-par 1034 and beat the Bulldogs by 19 strokes. Craig Lile of Arkansas took first individually, shooting a 12-under-par 204. Ryan King of Fresno tied for fourth place with an 11-under 206.
"I feel that Ryan played well. He got unfortunate strokes on the last two holes to get two strokes back," Watney said.
Danny Paniccia finished seventh with a 208. Todd Rose tied for eighth with a 209, Josh Watney tied for 14th and Mike Louden ranked in at 20th. Other Bulldog scores included Shaun Trimble at 24th, Nick Watney at 33rd, Wes Lovell at 83rd and Mike Kim at 93rd.
Bulldogs Win at Wolfpack
Fresno State had it?s second tournament of the year at The Wolfpack Classic in Carson City, Nev. on Oct 11-12. The Bulldogs beat out 17 teams to take first place. Placing second and six strokes behind was the University of Portland with a total of 861.
The Bulldogs put up scores of 282, 295, 278 to finish 3-over-par. Danny Paniccia and Josh Watney shot a 214 total and tied for fourth place. Ryan King and Todd Rose tied for ninth place and Brandon Lamonica finished 39th.
With 18 teams playing in the District 7 event, the Wolfpack Classic is an important tournament for NCAA selection.
"I am thrilled to see our team finally putting it all together. I feel that this is a special team and that we are finally showing it," Watney said.
