FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Terrance Roberson scored 26 points to lead Fresno State to a 98-80 nonconference rout of Florida Atlantic on Thursday.
The Bulldogs (6-5) dominated from the start and lead by as many as 30 points. The team benched its starters for the final eight minutes.
Courtney Alexander added 19 points for Fresno State.
Ryan Hercek and Tony Lee each scored 21 points for Florida Atlantic (1-5).
Roberson scored 12 points in the first five minutes of the game as Fresno State jumped to a 17-2 lead.
Hercek and Emmett Murphy both hit a pair of three-point baskets as Florida Atlantic battled back, cutting the Fresno State lead to 21-16. But Roberson scored inside and followed with a three-pointer to start a 22-7 run as Fresno took a 20-point lead with just over two minutes left in the half.
Hercek, who had 14 of his points in the first half, made five free throws in the final two minutes of the half as Florida Atlantic trimmed the lead to 47-32.
Florida Atlantic closed the gap to 11 points early in the second half on three quick baskets by Lee, who had 19 in the second half. But the Owls couldn't get the margin any closer the rest of the way.
Melvin Ely had 12 points and 12 rebounds for Fresno to go with six blocked shots. Bulldog point guard Demetrius Porter scored 13 points and had nine assists.
