Fresno State Wins In Trend Homes Classic Title Game

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Courtney Alexander scored 32 points to lead Fresno State to a 105-86 win against Cornell in the Trend Homes Classic title game.
Fresno State (9-5) had all five starters in double figures and hit 73 percent from the field in the second half to down Cornell (4-5). For the game, Fresno State hit a season-high 65 percent of its field goal attempts.
Alexander caught fire in the second half, hitting his first eight shots in the half, including three three-pointers as Fresno State opened up an 80-65 lead with just less than nine minutes left in the game.
Greg Barratt kept Cornell (4-5) in the game in the second half, scoring 15 of his 21 points in the half. Keirian Brown finished with 17 points for Cornell.
Terrance Roberson scored 19 for Fresno State while Melvin Ely added 14 points.
Fresno jumped out to a 16-2 lead in the first five minutes of the game with all five starters scoring during the run.
Cornell, behind Brown, battled back to close the gap to 44-42 before Roberson hit a long three-pointer just before halftime to give Fresno a 47-42 halftime lead.
Brown hit all seven of his field goal attempts in the first half and had 15 points at halftime.
Demetrius Porter had 11 points and 11 assists for the Fresno State. After turning the ball over 22 times in Tuesday night's win against Wagner, Fresno had a season-low five turnovers against Cornell.
