Equestrian Team Takes High Point Team Honors In Afternoon

The Fresno State equestrian team rebounded from a fourth place finish in the morning show to earn Western high point team honors in the afternoon competition at the Cal Poly Intercollegiate Horse Show today.
Fresno State tallied 19 points as a team in the afternoon show to edge out UC Davis, who finished with 17 points.
Todays shows concluded Fresno States Zone 8, Region I Western competition this season. For the year, the Bulldogs finish in first place with 207 points and qualify for the Zone 8 Western Championships against Cal Poly-Pomona on Saturday, April 3, at UC Davis.
Cal Poly was second in Region I Western competition with 207 points.
Individually, Fresno State senior Jennifer Jones (Fresno) earned high point honors in the morning show (11 points) and reserve high point honors in the afternoon show (9 points). Jones also qualified for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National Finals by being the leading Western rider in Region I this season. Jones finished with 100 points for the season and will compete for the AQHA Trophy which is given to the best Western rider in the country. Defending AQHA Trophy winner Elissa Lane (Bakersfield) of Fresno State was second to Jones with 87 points.
The IHSA National Finals will begin on Friday, April 23, at Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, N.Y.
