Women's Tennis Concludes North Shore Tennis Classic

Honolulu, Hawaii - The Fresno State womens tennis team concluded the North Shore Tennis Classic today by winning four singles matches and one doubles match in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Four Bulldog players finished the classic with perfect 3-0 records, they included senior Dora Djilianova (Plovdiv, Bulgaria), freshman Kim Niggemeyer (Berlin, Germany), junior Kandiss Creighton (Weldon, Calif.) and senior Shana Peete (Germantown, Tenn.).
Djilianova was victorious at singles flight No. 1, after Petra Gaspar of BYU-Hawaii was forced to retire in the third set because of injury. Gaspar was leading the match 4-6, 6-1, 0-3 when the match was called off.
In singles flight No. 2, Niggemeyer defeated Karin Ptaszek of BYU-Hawaii, 6-3, 6-1 to win her first three collegiate matches. Creighton defeated Tomoko Sukegawa of BYU-Hawaii, 7-6, 7-6 at singles flight No. 4 and Peete was victorious over BYU-Hawaiis Maylani Ah Hoy, 6-3, 6-3.
The Bulldogs also received a victory from Niggemeyer and junior Renee Kops-Jones (Fresno, Calif.) at doubles flight No. 2 over Helena Nordwall and Sukegawa of BYU-Hawaii, 8-6.
Fresno State will return to action on Friday, Jan. 22, as they travel to Berkeley to take on No. 4 California.
