Fresno, Calif. - Freshman Kim Niggemeyer, a member of the Fresno State women's tennis team, was named Western Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week yesterday.
Niggemeyer earned the honor after compiling a 3-0 record at the North Shore Tennis Classic in Hawaii last week. Niggemeyer earned her first collegiate victory against Brooke Leven of BYU, 6-0, 4-6, 6-1, and followed that with wins over Brooke Hart of Michigan, 6-0, 4-6, 6-1, and Karin Ptaszek of BYU-Hawaii, 6-3, 6-1.
Note: Fresno State will play at USC on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 1:30 p.m. The match was changed because USC has players participating in the National Indoor tournament.
