Fresno State Volleyball Captures Tournament Win

San Francisco--Behind the power of sophomore MB Shauna McQuaid, the Bulldogs captured their first tournament win on the year with a 3-0 mark at the 1999 USF/Golden Gate Classic. Also winning the tourney crown in 1997, the 'Dogs snagged the title with a four-game win over San Francisco (15-9, 15-2, 13-15, 15-10). McQuaid posted a match- and career-high 22 kills against the Dons to lead the way. Freshman MB Lindsay Closs had a season-best 19 kills with 10 digs and five total blocks. Senior OH Anamie Buckelew collected 17 kills and had a season-best 22 digs. Junior OH Malia Malu had a career-high 25 digs. In the tourney, McQuaid hit a tournament-best .443 (39-8-70) and averaged 3.90 kills per game while leading in total blocks with a 1.50 block per game average. Fresno State is on the road this weekend with 7:00 pm meetings against San Diego State (Fri., Sept. 24) and the University of San Diego (Sat., Sept. 25).
