Fresno State Volleyball Picks Up First Win

Reno, Nev. - The Fresno State volleyball team got its first win of the season with a four-game victory over Saint Mary's (6-15, 15-12, 15-6, 15-13) at the Silver Legacy/Ray Wersching Invitational in Reno. In the match, four Bulldogs posted double-digits in kills. They were led by senior OH Anamie Buckelew, who posted a match-high 19 kills while also adding 11 digs and 3 total blocks. Sophomore MB Shauna McQuaid collected her first career double-figure kill match with 12 and had 4 block assists. Junior OH Malia Malu chipped in 13 kills and freshman MB Lindsay Closs added 11 with 5 total blocks. With the victory, the Bulldogs finished third in the invitational with a 1-2 worksheet. Fresno State will be back in action next weekend when it hosts its own invitational, Sept. 10-11, in the North Gym. The two-day, five-team field features Cal Poly, Eastern Washington, Oral Roberts, Wisconsin-Green Bay & Fresno State.
