FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldogs euphemistically flipped the San Francisco State Gators on their backs and charmed them into a 28-6 defeat at the North Gym on the campus of Fresno State.
Fresno State started the dual match with three straight wins, as Jason Bedsole (Fr., Las Vegas, Nev.) squeaked by John Hammer 8-7 for his 11th win of the season. No. 7 Paris Ruiz (Jr., Fresno, Calif.) got on track with a major decision victory over Armando Orozco 8-0, that puts Ruiz overall at 19-3 (8 major decision wins). The next match featured Ralph Lopez (Fr., Fresno, Calif.) and not to be overshadowed by Ruiz?s impressive victory, got a first period pin of Jared Waller.
The Bulldogs kept the pressure on the Gators by collecting five more wins during the dual match.
No. 6 Illinois would be the next target for the ?Dogs, as Fresno State hosted both San Francisco State and the powerful Illini team on the same day.
The ?Dogs improved their dual match record to 5-2, as the Gators went the opposite way going 2-5.
