Bulldog Volleyball Charges Back to WAC Victory Over Tulsa

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State (10-10, 3-3 WAC) came back from a two game deficit and charged back to win the last three to pull out a five-game victory over Tulsa at home.
With a 3-2 worksheet in their last five outings, the Bulldogs collected a 10-15, 6-15, 15-13, 15-8 and 15-10 victory over the Golden Hurricane in Western Athletic Conference action.
The wins put Fresno State back at the .500 mark for the third time this season in overall play and conference action.
Fresno State hit .274 and netted 18 blocks with 62 digs while Tulsa hit .228 and had eight blocks and 70 digs.
The Bulldogs had four players record double-digit kills while two had double-figure digs. Junior middle blocker Shauna McQuaid notched a team-high 15 kills and a match-high eight blocks in the victory. Sophomore middle blocker Lindsay Closs and freshman outside hitter Stefanie Taelman each had 14 kills. Closs also added six blocks and Taelman had three. Sophomore Christy Burnett had 11 kills in the win.
Defensively, senior outside hitter Malia Malu tallied a team-best 15 digs to go along with seven blocks while sophomore setter Brittney Pearson added 11 digs.
Tulsa was led by senior outside hitter Kristien Van Lierop who had a match-high 19 kills.
Fresno State will be back in action next weekend at home when they host TCU on Friday, Oct. 20 and SMU on Saturday, Oct. 21. Both matches start at 7:00 pm in the North Gym.
