Volleyball Gets Swept by San Jose State

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Bringing in a three-match win streak and having won five of its last seven, Fresno State could not break the domination of San Jose State as the Spartans swept the Bulldogs 15-7, 15-4 and 15-9 in Spartan Gym.
Fresno State (12-11, 5-4)has now dropped its last six meetings to SJSU over the past three years after prevailing the previous two season by winning the first four contests.
Sophomore outside hitter Christy Burnett tallied a team-high 12 kills and hit .280 (12-5-25) while adding two assists, six digs and a block.
As a team, Fresno State posted a .140 hitting effiency to SJUS's .400. The Spartans also outkilled (48-34), outdug (37-29) and outblocked (7.5-4.0) the Bulldogs. The win improved San Jose State's win streak to seven straight. In addition, senior middle blocker Joslynn Gallop broke the Western Athletic Conference all-time career kill mark after totaling 18 kills. Gallop breaks Fresno State's Tricia Tuley's career mark of 1,804 with a new record of 1,806.
Fresno State's 2000 season is drawing to a close. With seven matches remaining on the year, Fresno State is on the road for five matches, including next weekend when the Bulldogs travel to Nevada (Nov. 2) and #2 Hawai'i (Nov. 4).
Fresno State concludes its homestand the following week with Rice on Nov. 10 and UTEP on Nov. 11. The Bulldogs then go on the road for their final three matches of the year with stops at Tulsa, SMU and TCU.
