Golf Team Finishes Sixth at Pacific Invitational

FRESNO, Calif.- - The Fresno State golf team scored a total of 880 to finish in sixth plae at thte 28th annual Pacific Invitational, held at the Reserve at Spanos Park (par 72, 7,000 yards) in Stockton Calif.
The 'Dogs were in ninth place after two rounds yesterday. Senior Jonathan Echols shot a 68 today, giving him a total of 212 to finish sixth. Sophomore Nick Watney also shot a 68 to finish tied in 10th place with a total of 215. Senior Dustin Smith shot a 74 for a 221 total, putting him tied for 26th place. Freshman Chad Spencer shot 83 for a total of 234 and fellow freshman Brandon Coats shot a 81 for a total of 239. the team total reflects the lowest four scores of each round.
San Diego State won the tournament with a score of 845. The University of Alabama-Birmingham took second with 852 and in third was Cal with 859. The top individual was J.R. Ruda from Cal, who finished with a score of 207.
The next tournament for the 'Dogs will be the Fresno Lexus Bulldog Classic, Friday, Oct. 13, and Saturday, Oct. 14. The tournament will be held at the Ft. Washington Golf Club.
