FRESNO, Calif. -
Sophomore Nick Watney (Dixon, Calif.) tied for 20th at the Nelson at Stanford Friday through Sunday, Oct. 27-29. The Bulldogs placed 15th with a score of 898.
Watney shot 75-76-68-219 to tie with six other golfers for 20th. Junior Jonathan Echols (Hanford, Calif.) tied for 27th, shooting 70-73-77-220. Freshman Chad Spencer (Rocklin, Calif.) shot 69-78-76-223 to tie for 40th. Junior Dustin Smith finished 91st and freshman Brent Vail (Ft. Collins, Colo.) tied for 94th, having shot 80-81-78-239 and 79-86-76-241 respectively.
Duke won the tournament with a total of 862 with North Carolina State finishing second at 866. Steve Sokol from Florida Southern was the individual champion shooting a total of 208.
The Bulldogs have wrapped up their fall season and will be back to competition on Wednesday, February 21, at the John Burns Invitational in Hawaii.
