Equestrian Rides Strong at First NCAA Invitational

FRESNO, Calif. -
The Bulldogs traveled to Columbia S.C. to compete in their first of four NCAA invitationals this year and finished second of 12 schools.
Fresno State was champion in the Western category and took fourth overall in the English Category. In the Western category, freshman Christy Webb (Lodi, Calif.) took third in the Advanced Stock Seat and freshman Maja Jordan (Sanger, Calif.) placed fifth in the Intermediate Stock Seat. Senior Brenn Burtch (Bakersfield, Calif.) claimed the second place for the Open Rail and was the champion rider in the Open Reining.
The English riders performed strong as well. Junior Krista Preckel (San Diego, Calif.) won second in the Intermediate Fences. Freshman Andrea Hanson, performing in her first show of the season, took fourth in the Novice Flat, first in the Novice Fences and claimed the Overall Hunter Seat Champion title.
The 'Dogs will travel to San Luis Obispo, Calif., to compete in an Intercollegiate Horse Show Association show at U.C. Davis. Both the English and Western teams will be competing and the show starts at 8 a.m.
