Softball's Scott Collects WAC Pitcher of the Week Accolades

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State softball player Amanda Scott was selected the Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week announced by the conference office this morning.
In the circle, Scott appeared in all five games, two as a starter and three in relief, as the Bulldogs posted a 4-1 record in the ASU Fiesta Bowl. The senior RHP/OF went 2-0 as a starter and recorded shutout wins over Kansas and No. 18 South Carolina. In those two starts she pitched two shutouts in 12.0 innings and gave up four hits, walked one and struck out 17.
Against Kansas, Scott tossed a one-hitter with seven strikeouts for her 12th one-hitter in her career. Against the Lady Gamecocks she scattered three hits and struck out 10.
In her three relief appearances Scott worked 7.0 innings and picked up a win against Mississippi State (3.2 IP, 1 hit, 5 strikeouts) and a save against Nebraska (1.2 IP, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts). The save was her seventh in her career -- moving her into a tie for first place in the Western Athletic Conference's career annals.
At the plate, Scott hit her third career grand slam against Kansas which moved her up to No. 2 all-time in the WAC's career recordbooks in RBI.
The third-ranked Bulldogs will hit the road once again this weekend when they participate in the SDSU Campbell-Cartier Classic, Thursday-Sunday, Feb. 17-20. Fresno State will play a single game on Thursday, Feb. 17, against CS Northridge at 12 p.m. The Bulldogs will square off against Arkansas (10:30 a.m.) and No. 15 Long Beach State (8:30 p.m.) the next day. On Saturday, Fresno State will meet Sacramento State (10:30 a.m.) and top-ranked UCLA (6 p.m.). The `Dogs conclude tournament play with Ohio State (9:30 a.m.) on Sunday.
Fresno State's home opener is next Wednesday, Feb. 23, against Pacific at 6 p.m. at Bulldog Diamond.
