Bulldogs Spook The Owls, 69-57

HOUSTON (AP) - Courtney Alexander scored 22 points and Melvin Ely 20, leading Fresno State to a 69-57 victory Saturday over Rice.

Fresno State (19-9, 9-3 Western Athletic) led 34-20 at the half. Mike Wilks scored 19 points to lead Rice (5-20, 1-12).

Alex Bougaieff had 12 rebounds for Rice, which outrebounded the visitors 43-37.

Ely had 10 rebounds for Fresno State. Demetrius had seven assists for Fresno State.

Fresno State hit 14 of 29 field goals the first half and 10 of 20 the second, while Rice hit only 6 of 28 the first half and 12 of 35 the second.
