
Men's Basketball Holds Off Hawai'i 85-77

HONOLULU (AP) - Courtney Alexander scored 12 of his game-high 30 points over the final five minutes Saturday night to rally Fresno State to an 85-77 victory over Hawaii.
The Bulldogs (16-7, 6-1 Western Athletic Conference) trailed by 10 points, 64-54, with 11 minutes remaining when Alexander, with help from Terrance Roberson ignited the comeback.
Roberson scored seven of his 22 points to make it 70-68 and set the stage for Alexander's work.
Alexander's basket with 1:51 left gave Fresno State the lead for good, 78-77. He finished with 13-of-27 from the floor.
Hawaii (15-6, 4-4), after falling behind by seven, reeled off an 13-0 run to take a 43-41 lead at the intermission. Predrag Savovic scored seven points during the run with Geremy Robinson coming off the bench to add four.
In addition to the scoring by Alexander and Roberson, the Bulldogs got 17 points and 13 rebounds from Melvin Ely and 10 points and 14 boards from Larry Abney.
Marquette Alexander turned in his third consecutive double-double, getting 19 points and 14 rebounds. Savovic added 18 points and Troy Ostler got 16.
The win was Fresno State's 12th in its last 14 games and gave Jerry Tarkanian his 100th victory as coach at his alma mater.
