Golfers Continue Their Climb In National Rankings

FRESNO, Calif. - Sights Set for Morris Williams Invite
On March 20, 2000, the Bulldogs compete in the Morris Williams Invitational in Austin, Texas. Teams competing have not yet been announced. The tournament runs through the 21st of March and will be held at the Austin Country Club.
`Dogs Continue To Climb In Golfstat Head-to-Head Standings
The Bulldogs now hold the seventh place spot in the nation, moving up from eighth last week, earning a 7-1 record vs. top 25 ranked teams.
Bulldogs in Golfweek Magazine Poll
The Bulldogs are ranked 14th with a 71.70 rating and are second in District seven according to the Golfweek Magazine poll. BYU is No. 1 in the district and Georgia Tech is leading national rankings with a rating of 70.28.
`Dogs Move Up to Eighth MasterCard Collegiate Poll
The Bulldogs moved from 18th to No. 8 in two weeks th in the MasterCard Collegiate Poll. Georgia Tech is in first followed by Northwestern and Clemson.
Three Bulldogs In Individual National Rankings
Also ranked nationally by Golfstat and MasterCard are three Bulldog golfers. Ryan King moved into the 44th place spot in Golfstat and is ranked 69th in the MasterCard poll. Todd Rose ranks 54th in Golfstat and 35th in the MasterCard polls. Danny Paniccia earned a No. 69 ranking by Golfstat and is ranked 92nd by MasterCard. King holds a per-round average of 71.56 and six top 20 finishes in the six tournaments this season. Rose holds a 71.67 per-round average and broke his lowest single round career score this season with a 66 in the Fresno Lexus Classic. Paniccia holds a per-round average of 71.80 as well as six top 20 finishes in the Bulldogs' six tournaments.
Bulldogs Take Third at USC/Cleveland Southwestern Intercollegiate
The Bulldogs finished in a tie for fourth with Pepperdine University with a final score of 874. Three `Dogs finished in the top twenty. Todd Rose (71-71-74) and Danny Pannicia (74-69-73) tied for 12th place with a 216, 3-over-par. Ryan King finished 15th with a final score of 217 (72-72-73), 4-over-par. Mike Louden (73-76-82) and Nick Watney (78-77-76) tied for 67th place with 231.
Rose and King in Position to Break All-Time Lowest Avg. Per-Round
Todd Rose and Ryan King are both currently breaking the Fresno State school record in lowest season average per-round. King is leading the way with current average of 71.56 followed by Rose who boasts a per-round average of 71.67. The school record stands at 71.89 in 44 rounds set by Tim Norris in 1980.
Bulldogs Breaking New Ground
Todd Rose marked his career lowest round at the Fresno Lexus Classic this Fall shooting 66 in the third round (73-70-66--209). Rose has earned four top 10 finishes this season (out of five tournaments). Ryan King and Danny Paniccia have earned six top 20 finishes in each of the six tournaments the Bulldogs have played. King and Paniccia tie for top 20 finishes in their career with 16 (also the active career record for the `Dogs). King holds three top five career finishes (which leads the current Bulldogs).
Fall Dean's List
The 1999 Fall semester Dean's List honors Josh Watney for his academic achievements during the Fall semester. Watney earned All-America Scholar accolades last season as well as WAC Scholar Athlete and Fresno State Scholar Athlete honors.
