FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State swimming standout Summir Case will compete in the USA Olympic Selection Meet in Indianapolis, Ind., on August 9-16. Case will participate in the 100-meter backstroke in the event, which will determine the United States swimming team for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.
"This is a tremendous honor for Summir," head swimming coach Danielle Irle said. "If she can finish in the top two in her event, she is virtually an automatic lock to make the Olympic team. She's coming off an excellent performance at the WAC championships, so anything can happen."
Case, a senior next year, qualified for the meet by winning the 100 backstroke at the WAC championships with a 55.99. The time was a career-best and established a new school record.
