Volleyball Suffers Third Straight Loss

DENVER, Colo. - Fresno State suffered its third straight loss and second in tournament play at the Denver Invitational. The Bulldogs dropped a 15-8, 9-15, 2-15, 15-7 and 7-15 decision to Butler as they fell to 0-2 in invitational play and 6-4 overall.
In the loss, senior outside hitter Malia Malu was the only player in the match to record a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs. Junior middle blocker Shauna McQuaid had a team-high 12 kills while adding three blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Christy Burnett (10 digs) and freshman outside hitter Taneisha Tilque (12 digs) had double-figure dig performances for Fresno State.
Butler was led by Andrea King who had a match-high 18 kills and hit .452 while adding seven total blocks in the Bulldogs' win. Butler tallied more kills (54-49) and outblocked Fresno State (12-7) which advanced to the championship match against host Denver.
Fresno State closes out tournament play this evening against Marshall at 5:00 pm (MDT).
