Bulldog Volleyball Drops Two-Game Lead in Loss to Denver

DENVER - Fresno State (6-3) squandered a two-game lead in its opening match of the Denver Invitational to host Denver and fell in five game (16-14, 15-10, 13-15, 7-15, 11-15). The Bulldogs, who will look to break a two-match losing streak tomorrow, tallied 77 kills to DU's 66 but the Pioneers outblocked the Bulldogs, 13.5 to 7.0. It was Fresno State's first loss on the season in which it had a two game lead. Three 'Dogs had double-figure kill performances in junior Shauna McQuaid (19 kills, 3 total blocks)and sophomore Christy Burnett (18 kills, 12 digs) and Lindsay Closs (15 kills, 4 total blocks). Burnett was the only Bulldog to record a double-double in the match while senior Leilua Satele had a match-high 13 digs in the loss. Denver was led by Sarah Kaye's match-high 20 kills. Fresno State will look to get back on track when it closes out invitational play with Butler (11:00 am, MDT) and Marshall (5:00 pm, MDT).
