FRESNO, Calif. (AP)- Demetrius Porter scored 24 points, including 13 in the final six minutes to lead Fresno State to a 94-82 Western Athletic Conference victory against Texas Christian on Wednesday.
Tito Maddox scored 16 points and equaled a school record with 17 assists for Fresno State (14-2 overall, 3-0 WAC), which is riding a 10-game winning streak. Melvin Ely added 24 for the Bulldogs and Chris Jefferies finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Ryan Carroll led TCU (12-4, 2-1) with 25 points. Greedy Daniels finished with 16 points.
Fresno State trailed by two at halftime but came back and led 73-68 with just less than eight minutes left. Bingo Merriex hit a 3-pointer and Nucleus Smith hit two free throws to get TCU even again with 6:18 left. But Porter and Fresno State then took control.
Porter scored eight in a 12-2 Fresno run over the next two minutes for an 85-75 lead.
TCU took a 17-13 lead with just over 13 minutes left in the opening half after trailing 7-0 early in the game. Carroll had seven in that run for TCU and Daniels scored five.
Fresno countered with a 10-point run, led by five points from Maddox. TCU, averaging just over 98 points a game this season, went almost seven minutes without a field goal before Thomas McTyer hit a three, cutting Fresno's lead to 25-22.
