FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldogs defeated the University of San Diego 158.5-129.5, Friday, Jan. 12. The `Dogs now hold a 6-1 dual meet record.
Fresno State traveled to San Diego in what was the final home meet of the season for the Toreros, unfortunately. The Bulldogs won 10 of the 16 events. The meet was delayed one hour and 30 minutes due to lightning conditions. Once the lightning quit, events 14, 15 and 16 were completed.
Fresno State diver Nicole Recupito swept both the one and three meter dive events with scores of 233.55 and 236.77 respectively. Freshman Greer McGettrick (Studio City, Calif.) took first place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:09.45. Other championship finishes were claimed by seniors Temple Cowden (Redlands, Calif.) in the 200 fly (2:08.18) and 500 freestyle (5:09.11), Jesie Lewis (Juneau, Ala.) in the 50 freestyle (25.00) and 100 freestyle (53.13), Jenifer Brown (West Hills, Calif.) in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.11) and freshman Julian Hill (Bakersfield, Calif.) in the 200 breaststroke (2:08.86).
The Bulldogs will complete their road trip on Saturday, Jan. 13 in a double dual meet with U.C. Irvine and San Diego State before returning home to compete against North Texas and Cal Poly. That home meet is on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 12 p.m.
