Swimming and Diving Continues to Dominate in SoCal

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State defeated San Diego State and U.C. Irvine in a double dual meet held at U.C. Irvine Saturday. The `Dogs blew out both teams, defeating San Diego State 69.5-35.5 and Irvine 75-35.
The Bulldogs won six of the 13 events and now improve to an 8-1 dual meet record. The `Dogs won both of the relays, the 200 freestyle relay and the 200 medley relay. The 200 medley realy team consisted of seniors Summir Case and Laurel Frisinger, junior Jesie Lewis and freshman Greer McGettrick. The 200 freestyle team was made up of senior Jessica Klenner, sophomores Bethany Starkweather and Kristi Collins and freshman Julian Hill. Other first place finishes were claimed by senior Lena Darnell in the 50 freestyle (24.91), Jesie Lewis in the 100 freestyle (53.30) and seniors Temple Cowden in the 200 IM (2:10.62) and Summir Case in the 100 back (59.39).
The meet concludes a successful two week road trip in Southern California for the `Dogs. Having swept every event that they competed in, they will now return home to take on another double dual meet against North Texas and Cal Poly. The meet will be held at the Central Unified Aquatics Complex and will begin at 12 p.m on Saturday, Jan. 20. Fresno State is 2-1 at home this season having their only loss to Pacific at their last home meet.
