Equestrian Shows Strong Against National Talent

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State finished in a tie for sixth out of a 26 team field at the Tournament of Champions held in Lexington, Ky. on Saturday.
Findley College, a Division 2 school, finished in first with 35 points. The `Dogs finished sixth overall, but were second out of the Division 1 schools. The show offered competition against some tough schools such as Penn State, Ohio State, South Carolina and Oklahoma State, just to name a few.
Sarah Woodward (Fresno, Calif.) finished second in the Open Fences. Two other riders also claimed second place finishes, Andrea Hanson (Schulenburg, Texas) in the Novice Fences and Michelle Tonello (Santa Paula, Calif.) in the Open Hunter Seat Equitation. Dawn Crawford (Yucaipa, Calif.) took seventh in the Intermediate Fences.
The `Dogs currently hold the first place position in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Zone 8 standings with 226 points for the season. The Bulldogs will travel to Cal Poly for their next IHSA show on February 18 as well as host an intercollegiate dressage show on the same day at the Student Horse Center.
