Bulldog Spotlight -- Rebecca Cannady

Freshman breaststroker Rebecca Cannady comes to Fresno State as a four-year letterwinner at Warrne High School in Downey, Calif. In addition to her 2001 team captain responsibilities, she swam her way to a third place finish in both the 100 free and 100 breast at the San Gabriel Valley League Championships. Her successful season was topped off as she was awarded the Most Valuable Player award. Cannady not only excelled in the pool, but in the classroom as well. She was a member of the California scholarship Federation all four years and received the Golden Bear Award in 2000 and 2001 for her community service and excellence as an athlete.
Freshman breaststroker Rebecca Cannady took time out her busy schedule to answer a few interesting questions.
Q: If you weren't a swimmer, what would you be?
A: I would play volleyball.
Q: What was the first thing you learned about swimming?
A: Kicking on the wall and blowing bubbles.
Q: If you could be a cartoon character who would it be?
A: Tigger
Q: If you could invite any three people to dinner who would they be?
A: Julia Stiles, for her movies, Jenny Thompson, she's a great swimmer, and my sister, I look up to her.
Q: What are four words to describe yourself?
A: Smart, quiet, swimmer and nice
Q: If you could place yourself into the shoes of an actor, who would it be and what character would you play?
A: Julia Stiles' character in "10 Things I Hate About You."
Q: What kind of music do you listen to?
A: Alternative, rock and oldies
Q: If you could watch a movie for 24 hours straight what would it be?
A: 10 Things I Hate About You
