Bulldogs Swim Past LMU Lions, 139-66.

LOS ANGELES - The Fresno State Bulldogs defeated Loyola Marymount's swimming team, 139-66 Saturday, Nov. 10, at LMU's Burns Aquatics Center. The Lions fall to 0-3 on the season as Fresno State improves to 3-2.
The team collected 22 top three finishes, including eight first place times. Junior Jessica Klenner paced the Bulldogs with two first place top spots, after she clocked a season-best 18:00.52 in the 1650 freestyle and 5:19.47 in the 500 free. Others placing first were senior Jesie Lewis, sophomore Kristi Collins, freshmen Minja Mickelsen, Tawne Fishback and Melissa Johnson. Lewis clocked a first place time of 1:01.63 in the 100 backstroke, a second place time of 1:58.85 in the 200 free and anchored the 200 free that finished in first at 1:40.92. Collins swam a season-best 26.07 in the 50 free. Mickelsen kicked out a season-best 1:58.28 in the 200 free, to take first, and swam to a second place rank in the 100 back with a time of 1:02.50. Fishback earned her place at the top with her time of 1:01.46 in the 100 butterfly and Johnson surpassed all others in the 100 free with her season-best of 54.06. She also finished in third in the 50 free, clocking 25.17. The relay squads combined for four top three placings. In the 200 medley, Mickelsen, freshman Jessica Baham, Fishback and Johnson together clocked 1:54.32 for second. In the 200 free relay, freshman Jennifer Palmberg, Collins, Johnson and Lewis collectively finished in first place with a time of 1:40.92. The two other Bulldog squads also garnered third place in each of the relay events.
The swim team takes the next two weeks off, before heading to the UNLV Rebel Swimming Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev., Thursday, Nov. 29, through Saturday, Dec. 1.
