Equestrian Wins Reserve Champion at Home

FRESNO, Calif.-
FRESNO, Calif.- The Bulldogs were the Reserve Champions today with 16 points at the Western horse show held today in the Animal Science building. The team finished just one point behind UC Davis who won the show today. The show started at 9 a.m today and had eight Western events.
After today's show, the team leads the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) Team with 96 points. UC Davis follows behind with 84 points.
Senior Stacey Steinhoff (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) won the Western show today with 14 points. The next closest competitor was Joey Osborn of Cal Poly with eight points.
Steinhoff placed first in the Open Stock Seat and Reining.
The Bulldogs had a strong showing today as six more riders also placed first in their events. Junior Kendra McQueen (Stockdale, Calif.) placed in the Open Stock Seat. Sophomore Dana Van DerGiessen (Jerome, Idaho) placed in Advanced Western Horsemanship. Junior Danielle Golden (Los Angeles, Calif.) placed in Intermediate Western Horsemanship Section A. Sophomore Andrea Crisp (Merced, Calif.) placed in the Intermediate Western Horsemanship Section B.
Senior Lisa McPeters ( Madera, Calif.) and Sophomore Maja Jorden (Sanger, Calif.) have both qualified in the Intermediate Western Horsemanship II event for the 2002 Regional Finals on March 24 at UC Davis.
