Equestrian is Reserve Champion at Cal Poly

FRESNO, Calif. -
The Fresno State Equestrian Team
finished a two-day Western tournament at Cal Poly. The
team was Reserve Champion (2nd place) with 21 points
just two points behind UC Davis who has 23.
Sophomore Amy Reed moved up from Walk/Trot to
Walk/Trot/Canter last weekend at the English
tournament in Stanford. This week at Cal Poly she
moved up as well. In the Western tournament, Reed
moved from Walk/Jog to Intermediate I. Reed has
excelled in both English and Western. She has already
qualified for the 2002 Intercollegiate Horse Show
Association (IHSA) Region One Finals.
Elisha McArthur has also moved up to a high
competitive level. McArthur moved from the
Intermediate I to the Intermediate II. Lindsay
Cummings placed fourth in the Advance I event on
Saturday and was moved to the Advanced II event on
Sunday where she placed 2nd.
UC Davis won the event with 23 points. Fresno State
came in second with 21. Bakersfield College finished
3rd with 17 points. Reedley College finished fourth
with 14 points. Cal Poly had 12 points for fifth.
Stanford finished sixth with six points and Nevada
finished seventh with five points.
The event was Fresno State's third event of the fall.
The Bulldog's next event will be held at the Fresno
State Student Horse Center on Nov 10-11. The shows
will be at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and 8:30 a.m. on
Sunday.
