Equestrian Western Team Placed Second at South Carolina

Toys for Tots Dressage Show will be Dec. 15.
The team and local chapter of the California Dressage Society is hosting a Toys for Tots dressage show on Dec. 15 at 8 a.m., at the on-campus Student Horse Center. Each participant is asked to bring an unwrapped toy as part of the entry fee. The team has always collected toys but this year the team joined with the society who needed a location for a show. This will be the first Toys for Tots show for the society since 1998.
Equestrian Team Competes in an IHSA Show Dec. 8-9.
The Equestrian team will compete in an Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 8 Region 1 English/Western show Dec.8-9 at UC Davis. 28 riders will compete to maintain Fresno State's lead in the America Quarter Horse Team (AQHA) standings and the Miller's Cup Team standings.

The Hunter Seat team High Point totals as of Nov. 11 are Fresno State 157, Cal Poly 132, UC Davis 118, Bakersfield 102, UN Reno 84, Stanford 64, Sierra Nevada 64, UC Santa Cruz, and Reedley 0.
Fresno State Leads in American Quarter Horse Team Standings
The Western Team High Point totals as of Nov. 11 are Fresno State 96, , UC Davis 84, Bakersfield College 70, Cal Poly 52, UN Reno 29, Sanford 29, Reedley 26, Sierra Nevada 12 and Santa Cruz 0.
Western team is Reserve Champion at NCAA South Carolina Show
On Dec. 1, the equestrian team rode in an English/Western show at the University of South Carolina. The Western team was named Reserve Champion with 16 points just behind Auborn University who finished with 17 points. The English team took eighth place with six points.
Jessica Frazier placed first in South Carolina Show
The Western team was the Reserve Champion at the show with the help of three sophomores. Jessica Frazier (Lovelock, Nev.) placed first in Open Stock Seat, Maja Jordan (Sanger, Calif.) placed third in Advanced Stock Seat, and Katie Wagner (Fullerton, Calif.) placed second Intermediate Stock Seat. The English team placed eighth, but riders placed higher individually. Sophomores Rachel DeCamp (Hanalei, Hawaii) placed second in Novice Flat and Amanda Hancock (Victoria, B.C.) placed sixth in Novice Fences.
Howard Nominated for All-USA College Academic Team
Senior English rider Ashley Howard (Visalia, Calif.) was the only equestrian rider nominated for the award. Howard competed in the 2001 Regionals held at Fresno State. She is a 2001 Fresno State Scholar-Athlete and volunteers at the Marjaree Mason Center and at Valley Teen Ranch.
