FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Melvin Ely scored 22 points to lead Fresno State to a 91-68 Western Athletic Conference rout of Nevada on Sunday.
Fresno State (22-5, 11-3) clinched at least a regular-season tie for the title with the victory, its 13th consecutive win at home. Demetrius Porter added 16 for Fresno while Tito Maddox scored 15 and Shannon Swillis contributed 14.
Garry Hill-Thomas led Nevada (9-16, 2-12) with a career-high 19 points. Andre Hazel added 13 points for the Wolf Pack.
Fresno State opened the second half with a 19-2 run to put the game away. Porter hit back-to-back threes to give Fresno a 55-35 lead early in the second half.
Leading scorer Chris Jefferies scored six points in the opening six minutes as Fresno State took an early 14-8 lead. But Jefferies injured his ankle and left with more than 14 minutes still remaining in the half.
Fresno State also lost backup center Mustafa Al-Sayyad to an ankle sprain in the first half.
Nevada closed the gap to 37-30 with less than four minutes remaining in the half. But Fresno bounced back to a 49-35 halftime lead.
