Diving Takes on NCAA Zone Championships

FRESNO, Calif. - Lone diver freshman Nicole Recupito competed in the NCAA Zone Diving Championships in both the one and three meter springboard events on this weekend in Federal Way, Wash.
Recupito faced competition from 19 schools and 58 atheletes. The top two divers frm each event were chosen to compete in the NCAA Championships in Long Island, N.Y. in April. On Friday, Mar. 9, Recupito competed in the one-meter. Recupito scored 180.60 placing her at 37th. Recupito then came into the Saturday three-meter event fired up. She jumped into a 26th place finish with her score of 206.80.
Recupito qualifed for the competition during the WAC Championships with her 1-meter score of 310.75 and three-meter score of 360.35. Divers from USC and Stanford controlled the top placings of the competition.
The Bulldogs swimming and diving season has concluded for the year. Fellow Bulldog Summir Case, who made the provisional cuts for the NCAA Championships, was not invited for this year's meet.
