Women's Cross Country Wins Opener

Junior Olga Gutierrez (Visalia, Calif.) won the 6K with a time of 22:38.2. Sophomore Kara June (Santa Maria, Calif.) came in second with a time of 22:48.9.
Fresno State's Michelle June (Santa Maria, Calif.) was third on the team, fifth overall, coming in at 23:25.8. Junior Stacy Esquivel (Visalia, Calif.) took sixth place in the meet with a time of 23:31.7.
Rounding out the Bulldogs top seven were freshman Stacy Aurit, senior Rachel Bauer and freshman Leah Horowitz.
Cal State Stanislaus came in second with 44 points, followed by Cal State Los Angeles with 59. University of Pacific was fourth (104) and San Francisco State was fifth (133).
The Bulldogs will host the Fresno State Invitational at Woodward Park on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001.
