Equestrians Wins Show at Bakersfield College

FRESNO, Calif. -
The equestrian team finished the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) competition at Bakersfield College today. The English team was victorious over the seven region 1 schools participating in the show. Fresno State finished first with 30 points which allows the team to maintain its lead in the Miller's Collegiate Cup standings with 201 points.
UC Davis finished second with 27 points, host Bakersfield College placed third with 26, Cal Poly finished fourth with 20, Nevada placed fifth with 14, Stanford finished sixth with 13, and UC Santa Cruz placed seventh with nine points.
Top riders at the English show were:
*Senior Dawn Crawford (Oak Hills, Calif.) placed third in both the Open Equitation over Fences and the Open Equitation on the Flat.
*Sophomore Michelle Tonello (Santa Paula, Calif.) placed second in the Open Equitation over Fences and fourth in the Open Equitation on the Flat.
*Junior Michaela Mathis (Lemoore, Calif.) placed first in the Intermediate Equitation over Fences.
*Freshman Emily Brown (Gig Harbor, Wash.) placed first in the Novice Equitation on the Flat.
