FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Carl English scored 33 points and Mike McIntyre added 27 as Hawaii beat Fresno St. 82-79 Saturday.
Both were career highs. Hawaii (24-5, 15-3) earned the top seed in this week's Western Athletic Conference tournament after two victories over co-champion Tulsa.
McIntyre's seventh three-pointer of the game gave the Rainbow Warriors an 82-76 lead with 33.4 seconds left.
Bulldog Damon Jackson's three-pointer with 9.9 seconds left trimmed the deficit to three.
Fresno State (18-13, 9-9) had a chance to tie the game following a missed free throw but did not get a shot off before time expired.
Melvin Ely led Fresno with 25 points and 12 rebounds, and Jackson added 21 points.
Both teams shot more than 50 percent from the field with Hawaii making 43.8 percent (14-of-32) of its three-point attempts. McIntyre finished 7-for-14 from beyond the arc, while English went 5-for-9.
Travis DeManby's three-pointer with 2 seconds left pulled Fresno State into a 44-44 tie at halftime.
