Women's Tennis Sweeps Past Cal Poly 7-0

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State lost just 18 total games en route to a 7-0 sweep of Cal Poly at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center. The victory improves the Bulldogs' record to 12-5 while the Broncos drop to 9-12.
Fresno State got the ball rolling immediately, breezing to a sweep of the doubles and a 1-0 lead in the match. The ninth-ranked tandem of Kim Niggemeyer and Simone Jardim took out Christie Tjong and Teresa Galido 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. No. 32 Chloe Carlotti and Lucia Tallo followed suit at No. 2 with an 8-1 triumph of their own over Danielle Hudstedt and Kate Romm while Chantel Wiggins and Courtney Jantz took out Jennifer Azevedo and Paige Billingsly 8-5.
The Bulldogs wasted little time dispatching of Cal Poly in singles, dropping only 11 games in six matches. No. 33-ranked Niggemeyer led the way by dispatching Angie Bagheri 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Also victorious was the 43rd-ranked Carlotti, who defeated Hustedt 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2. The closest of the singles matches came at No. 6, where Jantz knocked off Romm 6-0, 6-3.
Fresno State wraps up the regular season with a home match Saturday at noon against Pacific.
