Golf Travels to WAC Championships in Hawaii

Bulldogs Ready for Battle at WAC Championship April 25-27
Junior Nick Watney (Dixon, Calif.), Sophomore Chad Spencer (Rocklin Calif.), Freshman Ryan Carter (Hacienda Heights, Calif.) Seniors Dustin Smith (Crescent City, Calif.) and Jonathan Echols (Hanford, Calif.) are taking on nine other teams at the WAC Championships. The three-day tourament will be at the Turtle Bay Resort Fazio Course. A round will be played each day at the Par 72, 6,535 yard course.
Last Year at the WAC Championships
Fresno State tied for 6th with Hawaii with 924. TCU won with 896, Tulsa took second with 897, Southern Methodist placed third with 905, Nevada placed fourth with 913, and Nevada finished fifth with 919. Echols placed 5th with 72-76-76-224. Watney finished 6th with 70-77-78-225. Smith tied for 41st with 76-77-89-242.
Fresno State Placed Fourth at BYU April 20
The team golfed in its last regular season tournament last week. The Bulldogs competed at the Cougar Classic at the Riverside Country Club in Provo, Utah. Fresno State finished fourth out of 15 teams with a score of 283-287-570. The Bulldogs were just one stroke behind the first place teams Brigham Young, Colorado State, and Nevada. BYU shot 282-287-569. Colorado State finished with 284 -285-569. Nevada's score was 283-286 -569.
A Dynamic Duo at BYU
Watney finished in first place at the BYU Cougar Classic. He shot 68-66-134. Echols shot 67-70-137 and took second.
Three Bulldogs Provide Support in Provo
Freshman Ryan Carter (Hacienda Heights, Calif.) shot 73-74-147 and tied 29th. Senior Dustin Smith (Crescent City, Calif.) shot 75-77-152 and tied for 50th. Sophomore Chad Spencer (Rocklin Calif.) shot 78-77-155 and placed 70th.
