FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State took 18th place out of 31 teams at the NCAA West Region meet at Blue Lake Park in Portland, Ore., on Saturday.
Stanford won the women's meet with 45 points by placing all five scoring runners in the top 20. Second place went to UCLA with 69 points and Washington took third with 94.
The Bulldogs were led by Kara June who took 36th with a 6K time of 21:45. Fresno State's second and third finishers were freshman Andrea Buckner and senior Orelia Gonzalez. Buckner took 67th with a time of 22:23 and Gonzalez took 98th with a time of 22:54.
Junior Courtney Stewart and sophomore Andrea Osteen rounded out Fresno State's scoring runners. Stewart and Osteen had times of 23:24 and 24:10, respectively.
It is unlikely that any Fresno State runners will be selected to compete at the NCAA Championships in Waterloo, Iowa, on Nov. 24, however the NCAA chooses the 38 individual at large bids on Monday.
