No. 23 Women's Tennis Upsets No. 15 UNLV

FRESNO, Calif. - Behind a strong combination of singles and doubles play, No. 23 Fresno State upset 15th-ranked UNLV at the Wathen Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs, who moved up three spots to No. 23 in this week's national rankings, jumped to a 1-0 start by sweeping the doubles. The No. 1 team of Lucia Sainz and Lucia Tallo led the way with an 8-6 victory over Agnieszka Abram and Paulina Janus. Also victorious were the teams of Chloe Carlotti and Kathrin Winterhalter at No. 2 and Kristy McRae and Vlatka Jovanovic at No. 3.
In singles, four of Fresno State's five singles victories came in straight sets. The only Bulldog to struggle was the 27th-ranked Carlotti at No. 1. The sophomore defeated Janus, ranked No. 85, 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (10-8).
Also winning in singles were Jovanovic, Tallo, Winterhalter and McRae.
Next up for Fresno State is a trip to Mobile, Ala. While there, the Bulldogs take on No. 38 Mississippi on Saturday and No. 18 South Alabama on Sunday.
