No. 20 Women's Tennis Draws Seventh Consecutive NCAA Bid

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's and women's tennis teams both received bids into this year's NCAA Tournament, beginning at campus sites around the nation on May 9.
The 20th-ranked women's team (16-7) will travel to Tempe, Ariz., for their first and second round matches. The Bulldogs will play 27th-ranked San Diego State (22-5) in the first round on Friday, May 9. A victory would place them in the second round against the winner of Illinois-Chicago (17-6) and No. 15-seed and host Arizona State (9-10).
The NCAA berth is the eighth in a row for the women's team, though they have never played a tournament match in Tempe, Ariz. Fresno State is 5-7 all-time in NCAA matches.
After the first two rounds of competition, the women's round of 16 through the finals takes place at the University of Florida on May 15-18.
The 41st-ranked men's team (17-8) heads to Stanford, Calif., to play 32nd-ranked Arizona State (9-11) on Saturday, May 10, at 9 a.m. A victory would advance them to the second round against the winner of the Oral Roberts (8-14-1) and Stanford (21-3) match. The Cardinal are the tournament's No. 5-seed.
The berth is the ninth for the men's team, which returns to the NCAA's after a one-year absence. The Bulldogs are 12-8 all-time in tournament matches. The NCAA bid helps cap an impressive turnaround by Fresno State, which were just 7-16 last year. The 10-win improvement is the greatest in program history.
After the first two rounds of competition in the men's bracket, the round of 16 through the finals takes place at the University of Georgia on May 17-20.
