Women's Bulldog Tennis Classic Draws Released

FRESNO, Calif. - Catherine Lynch of California and Lucia Tallo of Fresno State are the top two seeded singles players in the ninth annual Bulldog Classic, which begins Friday morning at the Wathen Tennis Center.
Cal players also claimed the third and fourth seeds, with Jody Scheldt being the No. 3 seed and Nicole Havlicek at No. 4.
Among the Fresno State players seeded in singles are Vlatka Jovanovic No. 6 and Kathrin Winterhalter at No. 7.
In doubles, the tandem of Tallo and Courtney Jantz are seeded first. Cal's Lynch and Jessica Shu are No. 2, followed by third-seeded Scheldt and Havlicek of California, then No. 4 Winterhalter and Lucia Sainz of Fresno State.
A Fresno State player has won two of the last three Bulldog Classics. Chloe Carlotti claimed both the singles and doubles championships a year ago. However, the junior two-time All-American will miss this season's tournament with a knee injury.
A total of eight schools are sending players to the annual tournament. The list of team's participating are Fresno State, San Jose State, Sacramento State, Cal Poly, Nevada, Pacific, UTEP and California.
Play begins Friday at 8 a.m. at the Wathen Tennis Center, with matches running throughout the morning and into the afternoon. Doubles begins Friday at 2:45 p.m.
The singles semifinals are currently slated for Sunday at 8 a.m., with the finals to follow at 11 a.m. The doubles championship match is currently scheduled to begin after the singles finals on Sunday.
A full consolation bracket, in addition to playoffs for third, fifth and eighth place, will also be featured.
