The Fresno State volleyball team will get a bigger stage in November when the Bulldogs host 2002 National Semifinalist Hawai'i at the Save Mart Center (16,116) on Sun., Nov. 9, 12:00 p.m.
After turning away fans last year as nearly 1,400 packed the standing-room only North Gym last November, the Fresno State Athletics Department announced a new venue and a new date today as the Bulldogs push for another postseason appearance.
The Bulldog volleyball team, which is 12-3 on the year and opened Western Athletic Conference play last week at 2-0, was scheduled to play the Rainbow Wahine on Sat., Nov. 8, 7:00 p.m.
Being the first true athletic competition in the Save Mart Center, the volleyball team will follow the lead of the Bulldog Basketball Extravaganza (Nov. 5) and a concert by Andrea Bocelli ( Nov. 7) as the first week of Grand Opening activities.
All ticket prices as well as season-ticket and seat-option holder benefits will remain the same for the Fresno State-Hawai'i volleyball match while parking will require a $3.00 charge.
"We're excited to play Hawai'i in the Save Mart Center this season," head coach Lindy Vivas said. "It will be a fabulous future home for the Bulldogs."
"We are thrilled the Save Mart Center will be completed ahead of schedule, which allows us to get the Hawai'i match, our premier home match of the season, in the arena," Fresno State Director of Athletics Scott Johnson said. "It will be a great showcase for volleyball in the Valley."
The $100+ million Save Mart Center has the distinction of being the largest, privately funded project in the history of the California State University system. Guests will experience state-of-the-art technology throughout the facility and enjoy terrific sight lines while watching the Bulldogs or their favorite events.
