Equestrian Named Champion at Cal Poly Western Show

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Fresno State finished first both days in a double Western show hosted by Cal Poly Jan. 24-25, with the Mustangs finishing reserve champion.
The Bulldogs had eight first-place finishes throughout the weekend, with junior Taylor Mason (Pine Grove, Calif.) capturing high-point rider on Saturday and senior Laine Hendricks (Bakersfield, Calif.) high-point rider on Sunday.
Mason was first in Open Reining Saturday and Sunday, and Hendricks finished first in Open Western Horsemanship Sunday. Senior Christy Webb (Lodi, Calif.) placed first in Open Western Horsemanship on Saturday and sophomore Kristin Marchesi (Walnut, Calif.) captured first in Advanced Western Horsemanship.
Sophomore Stacey McCalmont (San Jose, Calif.) finished first in Beginning Western Horsemanship on Saturday. Senior Brenda Donat (Castro Valley, Calif.) captured first in Intermediate Stock Seat I Sunday, while senior Angela Klug (New Castle, Calif.) was first in Intermediate Stock Seat II.
