Sophomore forward Cortney Sobrero (Las Vegas, Nev.) has been named www.gobulldogs.com Athlete of the Week for Oct. 12. The honor is the third for a women's soccer player this season, while Sobrero has now claimed the award twice in the last month. Sobrero, who leads the WAC in goals and has been ranked nationally for much of the year in average goals and points per game, notched her second hat trick of the year in Fresno State's 5-1 win over Nevada on Sunday afternoon. She took four total shots, three of which resulted in goals. In a 4-2 win over New Mexico on Sept. 19, Sobrero recorded Fresno State's first hat trick in four years and also earned WAC Player of the Week accolades for her effort on the pitch. Sobrero, who scored three goals as a freshman in 2003, now leads the Bulldogs with 10 goals on the year. Already this season, she has established career-highs in goals, points, shots and shots on goal. Fresno State plays just one match this weekend, on Sunday at San Jose State.
