Sophomore Andrea Buckner has been named the www.gobulldogs.com Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 19. The honor is the first to go to a cross country runner this season. Last week, Buckner competed in the Cal Poly Invitational. She placed fifth overall and second among collegiate runners in a field filled with strong teams from across the state including UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara. Buckner has been the top finisher for the Bulldogs in every meet she has competed in this season. Her time of 18:18 at the Riverside invitational was a personal record and was one of the top 25 fastest times recorded by a Fresno State runner in a 5k competition. The team is continuing to the post-season, beginning with the WAC championships on Oct. 30. The meet will be held in Ruston, La.
