Short-handed Bulldogs Fall to Boise State 55-44

FRESNO, Calif. - Coby Karl scored 12 points as Boise State limited Fresno State to a season-low point total in a 55-44 victory Saturday night.
Booker Nabors added 11 points and Aaron Haynes 10 for Boise State (15-8, 7-6 Western Athletic Conference).
Shantay Legans scored a game-high 18 points with six rebounds and six assists for Fresno State (11-11, 7-6), which shot only 33.3 percent from the field. Dreike Bouldin added a career-high 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
Boise State led 22-20 at the half, but broke the game open with an 18-4 scoring run to start the second half, capped by Josh Bates' steal and layup that gave the Broncos a 40-24 lead with 11:24 to play.
Despite persistent fouling, Fresno State got no closer than seven points the rest of the way.
Boise State was 16-of-21 from the free-throw line. Fresno State, which has lost four of its last five, went to the line only 10 times, hitting 8.
Both teams were short-handed. Fresno State played without suspended starters Renaldo Major, Jonathan Woods and Terry Pettis, and off-guard Marcus West was limited to 17 ineffective minutes due to an ankle injury. The quartet comprises 70 percent of the team's offense.
Boise State was missing leading scorer Jermaine Blackburn with a shoulder injury.
