FRESNO, Calif. - Jelena Pandzic and 14th-ranked Fresno State both stayed hot in a 6-1 victory over 61st-ranked San Diego on Saturday afternoon at the USD West Tennis Courts.
The win was the seventh in eight matches for the Bulldogs (8-2), who defeated a ranked opponent for the sixth time this season.
Pandzic, currently ranked 18th nationally, improved to 10-0 on the year with a 6-2, 6-0 win over No. 98 Lauren Perl. The freshman has dropped only one set in those 10 victories.
Fresno State dropped only one set in its five singles wins. In doubles, the Bulldogs' three teams lost just a combined nine games.
"We haven't played in a week, but we were still very sharp today," said interim head coach Simon Thibodeau. "It started once again with Jelena, who was outstanding. And from there, the rest of the team was solid. Now we come home for four in a row, and we will need to continue this level of play in order to stay successful."
Notable among the singles wins were those of Vlatka Jovanovic, who returned to the lineup after missing the Loyola Marymount match a week ago, and Courtney Jantz, who won with her mother in attendance.
The Bulldogs return to the lineup Thursday for a match against Minnesota at 1:30 p.m. at the Wathen Tennis Center.
