Equestrian Captures Zone 8, Region 1 Championship Title

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State was named champion March 14 for the IHSA Zone 8, Region 1 division. The Bulldogs hosted the Finals at the Student Horse Center and competed against Cal Poly, College of the Sequoias, Nevada, Sierra Nevada College, Stanford and UC Davis.

Five Bulldogs qualified for the Zone Finals, which will be hosted by the College of Southern Idaho April 3-4. From there, qualifiers will advance to the Varsity Championships in Conyers, Ga.

Senior Tiffany Washington finished second in Intermediate Rail and senior Shauna Erickson captured first and junior Beth Knapp second in Advanced Rail. In the Open Rail competition, junior Taylor Mason nabbed the title and senior Laine Hendricks finished second.
