Golf in Seventh After Two Rounds of Play

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Fresno State is in seventh place with 574 after the second round of play at the Western Intercollegiate, hosted by San Jose State at the Pasatiempo Golf Club. Colorado, Georgia Tech and California are tied for the lead with 562.
Senior Chad Spencer is leading the Bulldogs, tying for 5th place with 139 after carding an even par the first round and shooting one under the second (70-69). Sophomore Mark Modglin is tied for 36th with 146 (71-75) and junior Ryan Carter trails close behind, tying for 39th with 147 after improving his second round by nine strokes (78-69).
Senior Jeremy Moreno added 10 strokes to his game, shooting 80 his second round after carding even par his first to tie for 53rd. Freshman Dan Buell is also tied for 53rd with 150, bettering his second round by four strokes (77-73).
"We had a little inconsistency with our scoring," head coach Mike Watney said. "But if we can get four good scores next round we'll be back in the hunt."
